O Instituto de Estudos Filosóficos tem nos últimos anos desenvolvido uma linha temática de investigação sobre o Cuidado de que a face mais visível é o congresso anual intitulado Roads to Care. Contudo, a figura do descuido não tinha ainda entrado na agenda da investigação.
The Institute of Philosophical Studies has in recent years developed a thematic line of research about Care of which the most visible face is the annual congress entitled Roads to Care. However, the figure of carelessness had not yet entered the research agenda.
Se é verdade que em áreas como as artes (sobretudo na pintura e literatura), a medicina narrativa ou em relatórios científicos (das ciências exactas) se encontram exemplos dessa figura e com uma produção já significativa, a literatura produzida em filosofia é ainda escassa. Exige-se uma análise filosófica sobre tal conceito que é ainda um terreno profícuo e, sobretudo, atenção redobrada neste início de século em que o descuido tem ganho terreno em diversas áreas da acção humana. Haverá neste congresso um espaço para se iniciar esta reflexão (quer do ponto de vista da história da filosofia, quer do ponto de vista do ensaio filosófico) mas que não exclui outras abordagens (ver a chamada à participação) e pede a sua participação.
If it is true that in areas such as the arts (especially in painting and literature), narrative medicine or in scientific reports (of the exact sciences) there are examples of this figure and with an already significant production, the literature produced in philosophy is still scarce. A philosophical analysis of this concept is required, which is still a fruitful field and, above all, redoubled attention at the beginning of this century in which carelessness has gained ground in several areas of human action. There will be a space in this congress to start this reflection (either from the point of view of the history of philosophy, or from the point of view of the philosophical essay) but that does not exclude other approaches (see the call for participation) and asks for your participation.
O descuido remete na linguagem corrente para uma acção irresponsável, desatenta, distraída que acentua uma certa imprudência, leviandade ou precipitação que desalinha a essência do cuidar. Nesta simples afirmação percebemos a fertilidade da figura e as múltiplas perspectivas que se dão a ver de imediato: fenomenológica, ética, jurídica, criminal entre outras. É este diálogo que queremos fazer, cruzando diversas áreas do saber, reflectindo sobre formas e conteúdos, ganhando espaço de reflexão crítica na sociedade e não apenas na academia.
Carelessness refers in current language to an irresponsible, inattentive, distracted action that accentuates a certain recklessness, levity or haste that misaligns the essence of caring. In this simple statement we perceive the fertility of the figure and the multiple perspectives that are immediately present: phenomenological, ethical, legal, criminal, among others. It is this dialogue that we want to do, crossing different areas of knowledge, reflecting on forms and contents, gaining space for critical reflection in society and not just in academia.
